THE SHADE and YAKKABE are standing behind the counter on the main stage. THE SHADE is smiling. YAKKABE is warily glancing around, hands in his sweater pockets. SHADE: And we’re back! Welcome once again to our first episode of Sublime Sweets. I’m happy to be joined by my generous co-host, who has agreed to help me with this first momentous recipe. YAKKABE: Wait….how did we get here? The Shade leaps down from the counter while Yakkabe looks around. YAKKABE: Is this that cooking show you were talking about? Who’s even watching this? SHADE: The important thing to remember when cooking is to always have a grasp of what you’re working with, and how those ingredients will react with one another. THE SHADE grabs YAKKABE’S tail and plugs it into a large hose. SHADE: For example, we’re going to introduce our prime ingredient to some high-pressure whipped cream, and I for one can’t wait to see what happens next. YAKKABE: Whu-?! YAKKABE starts to swell. His belly pokes out from under his sweater as his neck thickens and his limbs widen. YAKKABE: URK! YAKKABE steps away from the counter, thick arms flailing at the hose connected to his tail. His body is starting to turn golden brown. His widening belly is getting huge, impossibly thick legs adopting a wide stance as a roundness starts to overtake his form. YAKKABE: Uuughh... it’s all coming in… so fast… Get that...thing outta me! SHADE: For the sake of convenience, we’re speeding up the process to show the reactivity of our additives. I can see that sweet filling is making itself right at home. YAKKABE’S sweater and shirt finally burst off of his round body, limbs become uselessly swollen. His cheeks have almost eclipsed his face. His entire body has become golden brown and doughy. YAKKABE: Oooooohhhh…. SHADE Of course, desserts are fun for everyone. And I think even our ingredient is starting to appreciate his gooey, sugary taste. YAKKABE tilts backwards and lands on his rounded back with a huge impact. His entire body and tail have formed a bulbous oval, small hands and feet sticking out of sunken craters while his face is almost mushed away between his cheeks. YAKKABE: Oonff! SHADE: Now that our doughy, bready pastry has been properly filled, we can start fine tuning our delicacy. THE SHADE is upright, YAKKABE filling the frame behind him. THE SHADE is shoving YAKKABE’S sunken hand deeper into his body. A huge blossom of cream seeps out of Yakkabe’s mouth. SHADE: Now, I for one am a bit of a purist, and I like to avoid overcomplicating my baked goods. Additions like raisins, nuts, fingers and toes are a matter of taste, but I prefer to do without, and let the strength of the recipe speak for itself. YAKKABE: Uuuuufffff… SHADE: Oh hush, let your flavour do the talking. Large Panel. YAKKABE is a huge and swollen oval. His only real features are his buried face and belly button. His hands and feet are gone. The hose disconnects itself from his bottom half. THE SHADE pulls a cord and a large nozzle on the ceiling dumps molten chocolate ganache all over YAKKABE’S belly. SHADE: And what would our pastry be without a delectable chocolate coating? Just the thing to finish up our extremely plus-sized treat. THE SHADE takes a finger full of chocolate and cream and tastes it, sucking on his finger. He is leaning nonchalantly against YAKKABE’S round side. SHADE: Mmmmm, and the greatest privilege of any cook, being the first to taste their creation. SHADE: Thanks for the help, by the way. You came out delicious. The YAKKABE Eclair lies on a plate, finished and plump. THE SHADE stands in the foreground, smiling to the camera. SHADE: That concludes our first episode, I hope you’ve learned that anyone can make a tasty treat. I’d like to thank my generous ingredient once again, and extend an offer to anyone looking to bulk up their cooking experience. Until next time, stay sweet....
