Whether I'm a player or a DM, I always hope the session gets canceled the closer it gets but once it starts...
I love every second of it and can't imagine wanting to do anything else.

If you would still like to play in person, a lot of game stores will let you rent a table for cheap and some libraries will allow you to reserve a room.
The others already mentioned Discord which is great. forge-vtt.com is great for a virtual tabletop if you haven't seen it.

Exploding dye packs making them glow in the dark.
Stone walkways that liquify and reharden to trap them as they sneak by.
