This is ridiculous. High-end performance cars are where EVs make the most sense. It's the eco daily-driver cars that have had difficulty reaching price and range parity with ICE vehicles. Germany should be embarrassed by this weak move.

I bet it was also cheaper to fund UBI than taking care of homeless people. But without the threat of homelessness, capitalists won't have as much power over workers.

I think America going back toward the oil age is going to be its final nail in the coffin while the rest of the world advances and becomes independent of the oil addiction. The 100% tariff on Chinese EVs will only serve to isolate the USA from real competition.

Probably because WSPR began in 2008 and that crash was just a year later. They likely had limited data that early on and no one had considered using it in this way until ~2023. That's why it's such a novel discovery.

There has been a lot of media attention on recent crashes, but overall, the average fatalities have been decreasing over the last 2 decades. You're about a thousand times less likely to die in a plane crash than a car crash based on distance traveled.

Flying is still much safer than driving, so I'm not sure you made the "right" decision (whatever that means). I guess you'll take a ship rather than a plane to cross oceans?

Okay, I tried a "newer" 2010 BluRay player which has HDMI output (rather than RCA component) and does some upscaling to 1080p, and now it's bearable to watch DVDs 😅
