Have seen a lot of Harvard commencements.

Usually the Harvard prez is greeted by brief pro-forma applause. Or nothing. Or in my era, waves of protests and boos.

Never heard of *anything* like the sustained standing ovation Alan Garber got today.

Deserved.

Breaking: Harvard's response to the government's threat of withholding research grants to exert control over universities 👇

Research grants are not political weapons. The stakes are not abstract: Every $ withheld is a delayed cure, a patient or family left behind.

NEW: Researchers have sued the NIH and HHS, alleging that they have engaged in a "reckless and illegal purge to stamp out NIH-funded research that addresses topics and populations that they disfavor" by terminating hundreds of grants, violating the APA, Fifth Amendment and the Separation of Powers.

ATS and 50+ medical societies oppose government cuts to clinical research. The affected institutions will likely challenge this action in federal court. Time is critical; the abrupt stop of funding means that vetted and quality research is lost. Patients will suffer.

A systematic review of patient regret after surgery- A common phenomenon in many specialties but rare within gender-affirmation surgery
Regret after gender-affirming surgery (GAS) is a complex issue. Comparing regret after GAS to regret after plastic surgery operations and other major life decisions is a novel approach that can provide insight into the magnitude of this issue.A systematic review of three databases was conducted to investigate regret after common plastic surgery operations. Three separate literature reviews on regret after GAS, regret after elective operations, and regret after major life decisions were performed.
