This is blame I'm happy to accept. Authors, check to see if you're eligible to receive compensation in the Anthropic Settlement and if you are, file that claim.

WHAT, I did not expect to be on this list. But I am, so thank you for this link!!

Meet the new plan, better than the old plan

Oops, too much of this green color close together. That’s me working through a nice skein of Malabrigo Rios. Going to pull one or two out and save for later on the piece :)

The bright orange finally has a partner (LONG knight’s move apart because so strong). I welcome suggestions for swapping/moving the unattached squares, at least until I have to take this off the table to protect it from the cats

Next part of the layout for the www.grannysquarecrochet.com project. Trying to keep things balanced with local strategies: put similar colors a knight’s move apart rather than same row/column, keep similar patterns away from each other, try to bring down bright colors using neighboring colors

The blocking boards are standard but I added some custom 3D printed waffle separators so I could stack the squares with gaps inbetween

Oooh do you have a link to share? I need this too!

Yesterday's Granny Life crochet-a-long inspired 2 new "pro tips" for making beautiful squares:

1. Twist the yarns just before the corner 2ch, to make it easier to catch carried yarn later.

2. It helps to make your hdc crochet stitches a little "tall".

haha well if it looks square then you are probably doing them right :)

(and if not then the fiddly part in the corners is catching a horizontal strand of yarn inside/between/under the corner stitches)

Looks great! I’ll block it on my end once I have it. And I’ll let you know if we have another CAL, it was fun to see people and complain about the fiddly corners together

Oooh this one looks amazing!!

Yes that orange one is so tricky! It is near some things that soften its abruptness but I agree it still is bright. The whole piece is like a multi-scale sudoku with color and pattern rules that are emerging. I started making another bright one to put in later so I can balance the orange one out!

Looking good so far! ❤️🧶

lol, I ruined 3D printing for my son :)

The hard bit is that the assembly rule has to be local becasue I receive the squares a few at a time. In the end I think the math algorithm brings the “matchy-ness” of the patterns and the layout is about color and style
mathgrrl.com
Ok I think this is going to work! It feels good to have it starting to come together

After trying a lot of local rules for symmetry and other things, in the end I think the best strategy is to make sure things that are close together don’t have colors or patterns that are (1) too similar or (2) too different (?). Thoughts on arrangements? www.grannylifecrochet.com

Now I just have to figure out how to decide the layout of which squares go where, especially given that I’m receiving them a few at a time over the fall… I have a bunch of ideas, some of which might work, but would love to hear everyone’s suggestions. Currently thinking an 11x11 square or squares

Thinking about this type of join for the www.grannylifecrochet.com project, what do people think? This is just an extra round of 2hdc clusters with join-as-you-go. #grannylife #crochet 🧶
