A clean debug build takes around 5m on my M1 Pro.

Hard to compare to CMake though. I haven't optimized anything yet. Will report once I have spent more time on this.

Yes, but I could not reliably trigger it. Maybe I'm holding it wrong.

In this case, "shell" is the only built-in extension. Even "json" gets downloaded. So no static linking / fooling myself.

I've only played with Codex for a couple of days (compared to months with Claude Max). My hot take: Codex is very capable if you tell it exactly what to do. Claude anticipates what you want and is friendlier and more transparent in what it does. Will test more. 🤖

Yeah, it's very literal. Ask it to compare files or branches, and you get an unhelpful list of facts without any opinions. Do the same with Claude, and it will list key differences in various areas, along with pros/cons.
