No, pal. It IS a callback to that sequence, and GameFreak is fully aware of their “history.” That’s why those three have to be shoved into so many games for no other reason than to pander to people.

Dude, I’m so confused. Urbain blows off her party with no explanation other than “it’s urgent” and “we have to protect the city,” Jacinthe shows up to the meeting to try and get us back, and he just rudely brushes her off again with no compromise. No “hey if you help us we’ll go” or anything.
