So I wouldn't really work out the angle size, just write the rule down and then keep doing the rules and do the numeracy bit mentally only writing the numbers on the diagram. We do rule first but they should be treated as the answer not the numbers.

We normally teach by "work out angle and then write reasons" but I changed to "write reasons and then fill in numbers after you find your route"

Had an epiphany yesterday: teach angles questions as a series of reasons with numbers as an after thought instead of other way round.

Tired enough that I poured cereal into my mug not my bowl and got confused that my coffee was solid.

My cat forgave me for being away all weekend. At 1 am. How do I know this? She woke me up to make a fuss of me to show me I was forgiven.

Just what Monday needed: year 9 french last minute cover.

Find the prime on mathsbot with a high score board. Ours went mad for it, especially after our Head had a go and we could put his score up for them to beat.

After the EdD weekend I think I now actually understand ontological and epistemological stances and why they actually actually matter.

Day 1 of my EdD done. Talking about research ethics and what makes a good lit review. I have missed doing research so much.

Did my first ever assembly yesterday. All went pretty smoothly and where it didn't, it was on resilience so I just blagged it as part of the message.

It was dead creepy standing in the empty hall listening to dance macabre waiting for them to arrive though. (We get to pick entry music)

First EdD session tomorrow and I am excited.

Also exhausted. That was a long week although dead impressed at the year 11s turning up every day for extra maths.

If October 3rd is Mean Girls Day, when is Median Girls Day and when is Mode Girls Day?

Today I used my AI created questions with yr 11. But I also shared my pain at creating them and the slop the AI produced for answers before I told it how to do it. Useful to have a spot the error moment but also good to show off issues with AI use.

Using AI is definitely a skill that needs learning. My colleague and I both used it to create mirror questions to a test to go through with our classes. Mine were fine, his were impossible. Only difference was I asked for answers.

Sometimes I love blue sky because of all the sharing of ideas. Sometimes it's really stressful because there's so many good ideas and I feel like I need to be doing them but don't have time to.

I wonder if I could do the assembly on Hades 2 and how I kept going for another run at it.

Probably shouldn't. But at least I will count playing it as preparation because resilience or something.

I've used it to save time on repetitive tasks like changing numbers in a question to make a shadow question or rewording learning objectives to make key questions. Even with me checking them it's quicker than doing myself. I tried a few higher level things but it was not at all useful.

Year 11 doing circle theorems in #MathsToday.

Some got really into it and there was a lot of supporting each other.

I'm going to do it on Andrew Wiles because I love that story and then weave in the whole resilience bit.

I of course have not made it yet so when you said ps do your homework I felt appropriately like I needed to get started!

At the start of term I agreed to do an assembly. I now have to do an assembly on Monday. Who could have foreseen this consequence?

In #MathsToday I taught normal distribution for the first time since the new spec and oh my is it nice with calculators nowadays. These kids don't know what wonders they have.

Finally had a talk with a physics teacher (randomly in staff room) that might actually begin the slow alignment of methods. He was frustrated by some students who were in set 1 maths struggling with basic maths in physics and we went through the language differences in our explanations.
