The project was co-facilitated by myself, Alex Holloway and Jess Küçükkalyon.

It was funded by a @uomseed.bsky.social Social Responsibility Fund as part of my @urbanstudiesfoundation.org scholarship.

It showed that meaningful outcomes don’t come from having everything perfectly planned but from creating room for shared experimentation and allowing participants’ strengths to lead the way.
matinakapsali.bsky.social
From the beginning, we approached the work as equals with the participants. We understood how collaborative design, openness, and honesty can create a space where scholars and communities learn from each other as equals.

The project’s impact goes beyond the final publication. We'll share more on the process soon but some initial thoughts 👇

So happy this is out!! 👩🏽‍🍳📚🌍✍🏾🍜

Over the past 6 months, I’ve been working with 6 inspiring women of
Heart&Parcel to co-create CuiZine—an online zine exploring “The social lives of food” through a series of collaborative workshops. 🧵

Read and share widely!

"Right now it has a membership of over 70 participants located all over the world. We plan to use the network to build community and to spark collaboration. If interested, please join us by sending an email to [email protected]."
matinakapsali.bsky.social
We seek to challenge this by continuing working with these organisations (more soon) and creating a network of scholars and activists working on urban social reproduction.

"Notwithstanding the important debates initiated in events such as this workshop, they often start and finish during the one or two days of the event. This lack of continuity does not enable the building of sustained and long-term collaborations between scholars and activists"

Last year, Nina Ebner & I ran a workshop on urban social reproduction w/ scholars & community orgs from Greece, Mexico & the UK.
This included a zine-making workshop capturing shared practices & challenges—a rich, collaborative experience! 📚✨

Can’t wait to dive into this edited volume on Aesthetics and the City! Looks like @joeblakey.bsky.social and @amycbarron.bsky.social have done a fantastic job putting it together. 👏📚
