I do believe there is precedent for permissive solo viewing for the party catching up. But tolerating verbal recaps without giving away future developments is mandatory in these cases for the more advanced party.

We are wading into murky waters! What of the obligation that accrues to the solo viewer after discovering a new series but before informing their significant other of said discovery? When does liability attach and what are the discovering party's obligations with respect to already-viewed episodes?
