Yep everything has a cost, the bigger problem is allowing large houses to be built and water supply. Too many people not enough water causing water rates to skyrocket.

That's by design, there are regulations on building height so the mountain & natural views are not restricted by man made structures. A few waivers have been made.

NM has various seasonal things so time of year and how long you stay might play a factor. In general if you only had one stop Santa Fe is probably the easy answer.

Think you got that backwards, NM added free pre-k in 2019,colorado added in 2023. NM started free school meals in 2023, not sure on colorado. NM first on universal free daycare/child care which CO doesn't have. NM was also the first state providing free college tuition which CO doesn't offer.
