Prev: Beamery, GDS (uk gov)

I'm dying in this heat wave.

In other news, I started a new role as a Senior Software Engineer at Contentful!

Beamery was a blast, but it's time to move on to new and exciting challenges, and Contentful feels like the right place for that to happen!

Here's to the future of digital experiences!

I've got my Claude to automatically add code when showing examples.

Anyway, doing some system refreshing and this was the example which made me lol

Software Engineering's next era has arrived.

The timeline compression is staggering: POCs and iterative improvements now take minutes instead of weeks. Larger changes are accelerating too.

This isn't just faster coding—it's a complete reimagining of how software gets built.

Knowledge sharing in engineering teams requires both creators and seekers. That's a fact.

While documentation, demos, and findings need to be shared proactively, there's equal responsibility on team members to actively seek out information.

First F1 opening ceremony and they went with... Take That? 🤔

The missed opportunity to showcase artists who capture F1's energy and intensity!

I've been thinking a lot on Gen AI and its impact on writing code. It got me thinking, will there ever be a need for a high level programming language? Will we ever get to a point where we can just describe what we want and the computer will write the code for us?

Since leaving my first role - one thing I've certainly lacked is a formal mentor. Especially for navigating the big tech(y) landscape.

Reading situations and trying to judge if they're normal or not is pretty hard on your own.

Agentic AI solutions really are going to be the future of programming.

Programmers aren't going away, our tools are just going to change - its the next level of abstraction.

Its the same as we don't code in C because we have more abstracted languages above that domain

This was my tenth(!) year building 25 days of puzzles for #AdventOfCode. You can solve them all for free! Most people write code to solve them, but you can solve them however you like. I hope they help people become better programmers. 🌟

The first puzzle comes out in two hours: adventofcode.com
