I'm reminded that in polls people think foreign aid is a huge chunk of the federal budget when in reality it is a tiny percentage (and most of it is done to help U.S. businesses or for strategic purposes).

I don't know if the results are because most people don't have any idea what the actual percentages are and are influenced by media coverage, or if people don't understand percentages. Probably both.
