I keep coming back to this idea that the more I pursue so-called thick desires (eg seeking to understand a thing enough to be changed by it in some small way) the more fun it all is. And that, iterated, has a compounding factor on learning and enjoyment.

Idk man. I spent a lot of this year self-teaching CSS and web app UX instead of having AI spit it out and I came out of it with a great skill.

I do use AI to sketch ideas for me or spitball things. But the work remains my own, and I think that makes my learning stick.

An eye for typography can be a curse when you work with F/OSS stuff. :)

Have yet to find a lang that is as lovely to write in as Ruby. It just seems to flow. But DX is way more than the initial writing: typing, LSP maturity, ecosystem quality, etc.

TBH I haven’t found anything I love for this. I usually just reach for Python and import subprocess for the 75474th time.
