Streisand Effect! If they hadn't disqualified him, we probably wouldn't have noticed. Thank you IOC for bringing this important protest to our attention.

Gotta be grateful to the redacter, who tried to conceal his identity, but missed one

Wait a minute: this story sounds implausible. The general was shot; the suspect flew to Dubai; The FSB identified him, had him detained, completed extradition proceedings, and flew him home; all within the space of two days.

… if you believe that he killed himself.

I agree, but it says something about how the law is applied in the US that none of the elite abusers have faced justice.

The first person to go to prison for Epstein's crimes was a woman and the second will be a gay man.

This is a law that exists solely because of the lobbying of Big-Ag. It's as absurd as outlawing red rice yeast (a naturally occurring statin) because of the lobbying of Big-Pharma.

His tariff policy is actually sanctioning the USA, and I think we should just let him go ahead. Enough of the appeasement. The benefits of appeasement only last a couple of days.

two days in a row: very high artillery losses. Why is that?

Very nice, but I'm 66 and I'd have to read 3 a day for my whole life to date to get through them all.

Australia a leader in such matters

Truly extraordinary that saying "I intend to continue to do my job" is a courageous act of political protest.

How many Malaysias and Indonesias will it take before a European or industrialised country feels brave enough?
January 12, 2026 at 8:00 AM
I agree. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought you were implying that the problem hasn’t changed. It’s been a problem for decades. But it’s accelerated this year in frequency and severity.
January 11, 2026 at 6:24 PM
Is not this is a core fascist talking point: “Laws are unjust (as we define them) so we are morally obliged to disregard laws.”
January 11, 2026 at 3:27 PM
I agree on most of that. But by “liberals have finally noticed” are you implying that non-liberals knew all along, or that they still don’t know?
January 11, 2026 at 3:24 PM
I have never made such a point
January 11, 2026 at 12:44 PM
I agree with your first paragraph. I’m trying to make the point that Trump has taken terrible policies from his predecessors and intentionally weaponised them, while pretending to be solving a problem.
January 11, 2026 at 12:42 PM
I don’t know where you’ve read this, but it hasn’t appeared in this thread. The Gestapo had rules. They’re not the rules we should following.
January 11, 2026 at 12:32 PM
You make two points: 1. I agree that deporting lots of people is going to involve injustice, but that does not justify premeditated violence on the streets, especially when democrat voting cities are targeted. 2. You need to do better than the “Obama’s Fault” argument, when defending Trump policies.
January 11, 2026 at 12:29 PM
You have to go back 16 years to find a single example to make your whataboutism argument, and you don’t even know his name. It was Anastasio Hernandez-Rojas. It wasn’t ICE. It was border patrol. At the time, media was highly critical. You can read it here: www.latimes.com/nation/la-na...
Border agents won't face charges in Taser-related death of Mexican man
Federal prosecutors will not bring charges in the case of a Mexican man who died of a heart attack after he was hit and struck with a Taser by U.S.

Maybe it was in response to someone else that I accepted the “due process” point. Due process here meaning a legal process. State sanctioned violent abduction is a process with intention that is designed to avoid Due Process.
January 11, 2026 at 10:30 AM
… so we might as well employ thugs to beat them up. Your logic is about step three on the justification of genocide.
January 11, 2026 at 10:16 AM
I stand corrected on the due process point. But the “Obama was just as bad” defence of your position doesn’t really help you here.
January 11, 2026 at 9:50 AM
Not sure what point you’re trying to make. There is a deportation process now that is not hypothetical: masked men using violence that is unaccountable because sanctioned by the state to drag people away based on racial and other profiling. I can’t say that you don’t have a problem with that.
