Still believe in a two state solution? Want to help stop the illegal settlement expansion? The UN just released its updated list of companies from 11 countries still operating in Occupied Palestinian Territories. They include Airbnb, TripAdvisor, and Booking[dot]com.

Fredericton's Take Back the Night March is sacred. Its violation is a major public safety issue for the city. Solidarity with Sexual Violence NB, its volunteers, and supporters. #nbpoli

Caving on the Digital Services Tax is looking like a great move right now. I wonder if Trump expects Carney to cave again. #cdnpoli #elbows

My understanding: many of the units along the hill that used to house students now house families - a major demographic shift that occurred in 2020-21.

I think UNB and STU might take them up on building more housing, but there is no federal or provincial money to help get it done and no internal funds either. Then there is also risk, which the unis can't afford to take on: will the residences pay out LT? So they rely on the market instead.

I wonder who they think are going to go fishing in those dingies.

Yeah, I suppose because she thought being Canadian would protect her. In any case, she is right, this detention is undeserved. As it is for everyone going through it. The US needs immigration reform, its society relies on the work of people without rights.

“The US is my country,” Olivera remarked. “That’s where I met my husband. That’s where I went to high school, junior high, elementary [school]. That’s where I had my kids.”

Regrettably, not much difference between Cynthia and many other non-Canadian ICE detainees

That Andor and films like it, apparently anti-authoritarian, resonate with so many on the Left should force some serious reflection on the relation between culture and politics, especially the extent to which those opposed to Trumpism also identify with some of the far right's symbolic pantheon.

The part on the antichrist is in the last 15 minutes or so. Obviously, this vision justifies nihilistic violence, as per Andor.

An alternative would require the libertarians to actually spend time with the egalitarian critique of modernity. But they have no interest in it.

Just finished Andor, which some folks have been saying is resonant with the Trumpist present. I didn't think. The whole Star Wars universe is the dark nightmare of the libertarian right, and the Empire is the Keynesian welfare state. Try listening to this: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/26/o...
