Also re. demos, I like getting stuff down really quickly (and I’m no engineer) so they’re often very scrappy. They then get added to over big periods of time, so there’s all sorts of different quality levels going on.

One day that might just be the release. I quite like the idea of it.

Oh, that definitely happens - first and second albums we re-amped a load of stuff. But with this one we wanted a go at going to a big space with a big sound and to stand in the room and play it. Never really done it before. An indulgence.

I think there's room for a bit of both with our stuff. We demo-ed the heck out of our last album, which I loved doing, and then spent aaages on most elements of it. But then other albums have been recorded as they appeared to us in the room (Mirrored Daughters good example). I love the work!

The 'really live sounding' record we set out to make (and spent a morning choosing a snare for) really doesn't sound live any more. Still, we had a nice time making it.

Probably only £200 rather than a couple of grand, but we definitely spent a morning choosing a snare drum when we were in Ramsgate for the last album. Sounded great!
