Post you from a different era.
Late 90s. Headshot from... I think a performance of Into the Woods? I guess in a Dylan McKay era or something. I was usually more grunge than this back then but most photos of me before then were lost in a house fire.

Doing my annual November 1 tradition of seeing everyone's photos from Halloween and thinking next year I'll finish up work early enough to actually go out and do something fun.

But hey I stayed in with a terrier dressed as candy corn so it wasn't that bad a night.

Telling a friend that being a DM includes good natured bullying directed at the DM and how I can’t see my own screen name in our chat so the players screen cap when I forget what they changed my name to:

I used to get invited to do the weirdest projects. I think this was from ten years ago? Just popped up as an 'on this day' thing in my photo storage. Photo credit to Mander Studios who took some really fun concept shots of me in the before times.

We do not have room for another cat. We should not adopt another cat. If this beautiful lil baby is willing to move in, we are going to adopt another cat. (Frobisher desperately wants to befriend him. He's being so sweet through the glass.)

Like once a month or so when the house is empty I'll go on this Youtube excursion for live performances of Patty Griffin live performances, so the algorithm knows it, and this image just made me realize how much art we'll lose when sites like Youtube disappear. Uploaded 19 YEARS ago.

This just popped back up in my files. I wonder how many authors had their face used on the cover of a DIFFERENT author's book. Will forever love that world-renowned artist Dave Seeley used me as the base Frank Chadwick's "How Dark the World Becomes" novel. Possibly the coolest I ever felt.

If you see this, post an X character you love and a character you...tolerate

#comicsdna these are just the four that first came to mind:

Quick proof of life from the booth at Fan Expo Boston. Mostly posting because I love this shirt. (IIRC it was a WOTC/Lambert House fundraiser shirt way back in 2020.)

Great seeing everyone at the show this weekend! Hope to chat with you all again soon.

@jimchafitz1965.bsky.social thanks for dropping off the company for my booth at Fan Expo Boston yesterday! Only tried to eat my brain once.

Last author event of the summer over at Fan Expo Boston. Some day I’ll figure out a logical way to order twelve books in the rack but today is not that day.

(Booth A213 if you’re at the show!)

I don’t think there is any single moment from animation I reference more often and more earnestly than the Atom just giving up in that JLU episode. “I’m just gonna lay here for a while, Katie. I’m old now, and I get tired.”

During a recent author panel we were on together about writing superhero novels @justinemanzano.bsky.social asked if I have a folder full of comic book panels ready to drop into a conversation. And while I don't *literally*, I think mentally I do? Anyway, this panel just came up in conversation.

You know you’ve been a working writer too long when:
“Basing Krypto off his own rescue dog is such a great idea.”
“Didn’t you write your own rescue dog’s actual life story into your second Indestructibles book?”
“…oh that’s right. I forgot.”

If you see this, post a Marvel cover you love.

(First X-Men comic I ever bought. I was like: you can DO that?)

If we're posting Midnighter panels, this is the one that has always stuck with me.

Our dog goes on hunger strike any time anything even remotely changes, and so I am currently standing perfectly still while he slowly eats his entire bowl of food because Captain Anxiety over there has finally gotten hungry since my partner left to visit her folks yesterday.

This scene from Kingdom Come lives rent free in my head whenever I see people get amped about super-violent grimdark Batman or gets upset that Superman is "soft."
It's not about being powerful, it's about preventing the suffering of others BECAUSE YOU CAN.

I'm not looking for work but sometimes I forget I still have an Indeed account and it'll kick me "you might be interested in..." emails. Lookit those "high paying" AI jobs for writers
July 2, 2025 at 9:53 PM
We keep seeing folks use AI for character art for their books and I’m just over here hand-painting miniatures of the cast of my current manuscript.
Rabbit, Charmian, Bloody Grim, Eleni, and Olivar Stane.
(Older cast in the new project than usual.)

The world has me feeling exceedingly belligerent today, but our shy, distant Birdie allowed belly scritches at 2 am and that’s a nice accomplishment for the day.

I have spent most of my adult life fighting to fit on my own office chair against obstinate cats. Frobisher is the current bully.
June 26, 2025 at 5:11 PM
On a non despairing note, I have no idea to what purpose I painted these but now I need to find a purpose for them.

Mystery package showed up this morning and now I need to figure out which D&D group I dm for sent me this
