Puka Nacua goes from one of the most likable players in the NFL (I felt that way, even as a 49ers fan) to one of the league's biggest villains in a matter of days.

Seems to me there is non-zero chance that all of these redistricting efforts to get more Republican seats could backfire in a major way. Diluting your base's support enough means that a major national shift toward Democrats as a reaction to Trump could flip a bunch of districts.

If the guys on the boats the administration is blowing up are dangerous terrorists why are we sending them back to their countries when we have them in custody?

If they're not dangerous terrorists why are we blowing them up instead of just arresting them?

Journalists turn in access badges, exit Pentagon rather than agree to new reporting rules
Journalists at the Pentagon turned in access badges and cleaned out their workspaces, the price for refusing to agree to new restrictions on their jobs at the seat of U.S. military power.

Remember, Columbus Day is the original DEI holiday. America's founders showed no interest in honoring the explorer but as Italian-Americans gained more culture power they pressured politicians into recognizing the holiday as a show of solidarity to the oft persecuted immigrant community.

Trying to imagine the meltdown there would have been on Fox News if Barak Obama had agreed to put a Qatari air force base in Idaho.

I hate that functional elements of government that are supposed to be apolitical have been so politicized by this administration that I can't just dismiss the idea that the FBI might have fabricated evidence to advance a political agenda as a fringe conspiracy theory with no merit.

If people who disagreed with Charlie Kirk's ideas show him at least the level of honor and respect that he showed Martin Luther King Jr. I don't think we need to shame them or get upset about that.

The Charlie Kirk quote about not liking empathy is pretty disturbing. It's also disturbing that I've seen it shared almost exclusively in posts seeking to criticize folks for expressing empathy in response to his murder. Maybe we all need to go back to empathy school together.

Whether it's "homophobia" or "pride" there is something strange and dehumanizing about centering a person's core identity around their sexual appetites.

Parents should love their children unconditionally. They should not support their children unconditionally. We may disagree about which choices should be supported but the argument that a good parent should always support every choice is absurd and intellectually dishonest.

If you don't trust government bureaucrats to help legitimately needy people without giving aid to those who don't deserve it, why would you trust them to correctly identify and punish/deport bad people without harming those who don't deserve it? Due process for everyone is essential!
April 18, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Arresting someone in the United States and sending them to prison for life without a trial or any form of due process is NOT foreign policy, even if that prison happens to be located in another country.

If the government has no responsibility to non-citizens and the government has the freedom to choose which of the people living within its borders, obeying its laws and paying taxes are considered citizens then the government, ultimately, has no responsibility to anyone.

How about this?

We don't pretend that a person deciding they are male or female is the same thing as having naturally occurring male or female anatomy.

We agree that people who are respectful to others and show no ill intent can use whatever restroom they feel most comfortable in.
