Thank you! I'm glad the late-night redesigns for the jam were well-received.

All this hype around AI reminds me of the blockchain hype several years ago. Why does no one ever ask how a tool supports accomplishing the business goals? It seems instead that the tool is chosen first, then the goals are designed to fit the tool.

As someone who enjoys playing multiplayer strategy and tactical (E.g., War Thunder) games, I feel this. It can take several games to just remember how to play well, all while getting stomped on by other players.

Errors which just tell the user "Something went wrong" are half baked. I know I'm guilty of this in the past and now attempting to address this... but taking some time to think about what the users' intention was and offering some action they can take is really sound advice.

It might be a few years before we see true AI integration with our applications... though as a UI guy, I'm excited to see how AI will be utilized to dynamically render UI components that best fit the user's needs and preferences. It could be huge for information accessibility.

Its an everything tool! I've seen designers use it to make games… and some companies as their primary database.

You can use typeof and instanceof for limited dynamic type-checking. Typescript offers a more robust static type-checking system. The added complexity by typescript would be that added layer for type-checking you mention. It allows a dev to catch errors early and write a more maintainable code base.

My first ever VR experience I remember forgetting the real world existed after 1-2 minutes. It was a rock climbing game. It was incredibly immersive, so much when I missed a ledge and fell; I literally thought I was falling. Great experience but the novelty wore out fast. I haven't touched VR since.

They’ve been doing this for the past few years. I still believe they are lowering head count in preparation for a recession and all the reasoning is just a lie.

I’m concerned myself with the direction the current administration is heading. I like to think the ADA will remain untouched…

That being said I do think the need for designers with accessibility training will remain the same in the immediate future. I doubt civil lawsuits and pressure will stop.

I can not verify firsthand, but on Reddit, there are posts sharing screenshots where DeepSeek believes it's ChatGPT. I would not be surprised if they had trained their model from OpenAI.

That being said... I find it hypocritical that their data should be protected while ours is not.
From the ChatGPT community on Reddit: DeepSeek says it's a version of ChatGPT

I have seen this happen first hand. 1) Generate code 2) Insert code 3) Find bug in code -> repeat step 1. This resulted in entire files of code being outright replaced for small changes.

I tried uninstalling OneDrive one time. It always reinstalls after a reboot and system update.

Many years ago I remember teaching people how to navigate the internet. Every so often someone would say, what is the internet? I explain and they say, “oh you mean the E”. Then they completely understood.

Why do we need a user experience, AI will do it for them! /s

The fact we don’t have much control over data being sold, and nothing is being done about it.

Could you elaborate further on “Building your own distribution.”

I’ve only heard about design token’s recently. After reading up on it seems fairly similar to common naming conventions and organizational patterns for web dev class names and CSS variables. Its honestly pretty cool to see new practices emerge to bridge the gap between developers and designers.
