That we have not done more to resettle those who helped us and their families is a national shame and embarassment. We're supposed to be better than this.

Diplomacy is personal, and it requires personnel. My thoughts are with all the State Department employees being pointlessly RIFed. Adding my voice to the objections to this profound mistake. www.americansecurityproject.org/carelessly-r...

Cancer has affected so many I know, including family members. It will likely affect me some day. We don't make America great again by cutting the very things we should be leading in. We can and should do better.
Durbin to Bhattacharya: "I can't understand it. I disagree w/ this admin on so many things. But this is the one that really gets to me personally. To think this nation would walk away from medical research. For God's sake...cancer, your budget requests a 38% cut to the National Cancer Institute"

How The Houthi’s Rickety Air Defenses Threaten Even The F-35

Highly mobile Houthi SAM systems and ones that use passive infrared sensors present a vexing problem for even advanced U.S. combat aircraft.

Ukraine did nothing to deserve invasion from Russia. It did not attack Russia. It's been manipulated and attacked by Russia for a decade plus. If we side with Russia, that makes us the bad guys. We're not supposed to be the bad guys. We're supposed to be the arsenal of democracy.

In the 90s, we shuttered USIA and folded it into the State Department. Professional expertise was lost and never regained. For decades, people have been calling for a new USIA. We're in the midst of doing the same thing again with USAID, but this time without congressional approval.

It's been a busy week for us at ASP! Read our latest report looking at LNG Exports. LNG has done a lot for our country's economy and for security, but continued dependence on it for the long term poses other challenges that should be addressed.
This morning, ASP released a new white paper, Strategic Implications of U.S. LNG Exports, taking a worldwide look at the benefits, drawbacks, and security considerations of the U.S. meeting the worldwide demand for natural gas. www.americansecurityproject.org/white-paper-...

This is one of the most tone deaf op-eds on public diplomacy I have ever read. It is completely ignorant of the incoming commander-in-chief praising authoritarian governments and just another attempts to reshuffle the deck chairs. Sigh, so tired of it. www.foxnews.com/opinion/win-...
To win without war, State Department reform is necessary
The US must take a comprehensive approach to foreign policy that prioritizes persuading and empowering the people of other nations.

Not that it would have been realistic in any way, but it would have been nice if some of these fighters and air defense systems could have been extracted and moved to Ukraine. Makes total sense to seize the opportunity to destroy as much of it as possible.

The fall of Assad is a BFD. I'm admittedly surprised at how fast it fell apart, but it's obvious that Russia's war in Ukraine is a primary factor that allowed this to happen. Now, however, is when the really hard part starts. Just because the dictator is done doesn't mean the people are free at all.

Personally I'm more worried about the person talking on their cell while taking a crap than I am about transgender people in the bathroom.
