2/2 - the executive order ending birthright citizenship makes his story impossible today. He would be what they call an anchor baby. His parents would be hiding from ICE today. His story is the story of my neighbors, my friends. His story is the story of America, and we will fight against this.

If the gloves are truly off, I’m not sure him and his ilk are as prepared for that fight as they think they are.

And lastly Illinois residents just have more freedom. Besides legal weed, readily available abortions, and the right to collectively bargain, Illinois has home rule. Indiana does not and constantly forces municipalities to bend to their will. You can’t even put forward a ballot measure there.

The k-12 schools are a huge problem too. The median public school in Illinois stacks up against the best public schools in Indiana with their “school choice” policy. My property taxes would be cheaper in Indiana, but for comparable schools I’d have to pay $30k per year in private school tuition.

I moved from Indiana to Illinois, and the grass is so much greener here. They say taxes are lower, touting a 3% state income tax, but conveniently leave out the additional county income tax that can be as high as 3% in some places. Not to mention if you want to register a car there it’s insanity.

What was crazier about this was the literal fake newspapers sent out by Dan Proft to try and scare people about the Safe-T act.

It was a game changer for my anxiety attacks when I learned to repeat what was physically happening to me. I’ll say out loud that I’m hyperventilating because my brain is saying my blood needs more oxygen, but in reality it has enough and if I keep breathing this way I’m going to pass out.
