ℹ️ The government has introduced new provisions to the bill abolishing the cap on unfair dismissal compensation claims, claiming that it was part of a deal struck with employers and trade unions to prevent further legislative deadlock on the since-dropped 'day one' rights.

Typically, government amendments made to a bill during 'ping-pong' through the Commons are concessions made in response to Lords amendments.

🚨 The amendment relates directly to the unusual occurrence of the government introducing new provisions to the Employment Rights Bill through the House of Commons during parliamentary 'ping-pong'.

The amendment rejects the government’s new proposal to abolish unfair dismissal compensation caps (having dropped ‘day one’ rights in line with previous Lords amendment to reduce the qualifying period), instead requiring the Secretary of State to review the cap through consultation.

Wish they’d just do the common sense thing of a tram with dedicated lanes and priority and lights between Abbey Wood and North Greenwich via Thamesmead and all the new development sites by the riverside

I guess that would mostly be useful for UK nationals as HO entry/exit/visa data should be fine for non-nationals (would be worrying if not).

May I suggest this as a cheaper solution for keeping track of how many UK nationals have emigrated instead?

Except that in the UK they won't have PR to cushion the blow!

But how exactly? I don't see what implementing ID would give the ONS beyond the new data types they have used this time around.
