Bachelor Party is not on TV enough. An underrated comedy gem, with an early Tom Hanks performance and Adrian Zmed. Yes, Adrian Zmed!

Hello @bsky.app , I have some spare time, and need a podcast to listen to. Crime, music, films, arts and culture. Nothing that's ongoing, just Something I can listen ton8n a few hours. All suggestions welcomed.

Just offered my wife a Ferrero Rocher. She actually took one, well she took two, truth be told. We've been married for 20 years. I don't see us lasting much longer.

I just don't understand social media. I write one post every couple of weeks, and it never gets any engagement. I'm loathe to move to a once a week schedule, as that reeks of desperation and a certain narcissism.

In case anyone is still struggling to find a Christmas present for that special person in their life who enjoys shortish novels about childhood, mining, robots, alpacas, aliens, education, magic and the lost countryside of the Nearly North, I hear this is ok.

Just on the off chance you're still looking for the right psychedelic novel to buy someone this Christmas. Especially if they're into earth magic, teenage warrior queens, talking hills, weird lost folk records & irascible rivers teeming with the voices of dead souls

There is an incredible essay by Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe on
imprisonment & the meaning of freedom in the FT Edit app today. She writes about what books meant to her during that time in Iran, and how taking away a person’s ability to think herself away to a different place is a form of torture.

There is no greater compliment for an author than being asked to sign a book that is just WRECKED. Binding cracked. Pages curled. Finger grooves in the edges. A book that has been read to death, and is still a prized possession.

Go and buy it then!
It’s come to my attention that quite a lot of people don’t know I published a novel earlier this year (my second). It’s quite silly but a tiny bit serious too, and is about - amongst other subjects - the East Midlands, aliens, childhood, mining, education and alpacas. I had great fun writing it.

This is a book that's been frequently dismissed by people who only read its first 1/4 and thought it was a different book to the one it actually is.

So it's especially nice when a true, passionate reader - who's also a great writer - properly gets it
