Leersia oryzoides (Cut Grass) 😍 First plant in the BSBI handbook, has always felt like a bit of a mythical species. I finally made the trip down to meet this incredible plant at Amberley Wildbrooks last week. #wildflowerhour

It's so difficult to pick a #favouriteplant after a year filled with such wonderful botanical adventures. Meeting Purple Coltsfoot (Homogyna alpina) for the first time on the slopes of the magnificent Corrie Fee definitely stands out 😍 #wildflowerhour

It was gorgeous to meet Bog Jellydisc (Sarcoleotia turficola) for the first time this week! Not a commonly recorded species, these were growing in a nice area of blanket bog.

Cottonweed (Achillea maritima). Sadly extinct in Britain but still hanging on in Ireland. Only one patch of wild plants left but the introduced progeny of these plants look to be thriving. It was really special to see them in full flower #wildflowerhour

I've had a pretty incredible botanical week, full of beautiful landscapes and very special plants. Fitting to end it meeting Goldilocks Aster (Galatella linosyris) for the very first time 😍 A rare beauty restricted to just a handful of sites in Britain #wildflowerhour

Some nice comparison shots from recently. The lacinatus was a new species for me and incredibly distinctive regardless of the uncut leaves, having white flowers and being at least twice as tall as any Teasel I'd ever seen! @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Some rather delightful neophytes from local botanising this morning. Potentilla indica (False/Yellow flowered Strawberry) and Dipsacus lacinatus (Cut Leaved Teasel). The Dipsacus had very variable leaves from strongly toothed to deeply incut but was quite a distinct plant #wildflowerhour

Oh wow, never seen this! Only ever see Coleroa robertiani on G. robertianum really

The first was close to a track but the second two I reckon are the progeny of deliberate plantings on the bog.

More really wonderful plants from Ireland. Birds Nest Orchid and Yellow Birds Nest distracting us from bryos whilst out with the BBS. Pipewort was as beautiful as I'd imagined 😍 and Fringed Sandwort (the Irish endemic subspecies hibernica) from Ben Bulben #wildflowerhour @bsbiireland.bsky.social

Some gorgeous rusts and Smuts from my travels. Triphragmium filipendulae on Dropwort, Puccinia pimpinellae on Burnet Saxifrage (both very rarely recorded), Anthracoidea subinclusa on Bladder Sedge and Puccinia buxi on Box. Another layer of biodiversity in these wonderful habitats 🍄🌷
