This episode was recorded on my mother's 90th birthday and inspired me to think about how to make sure we each build our creative legacy. The most important strategy is in the title! Anywhere you get your podcasts, including YouTube, or at the link. https://www.mattselznick.com/mwsc-009-324/

I've released a very simple countdown application (with a point of view), and I go into the weeds on the tools used to make the new online store on my website --- in the latest Matthew Wayne Selznick Creates!

@scottedelman.bsky.social your recounting of the Spider-Man album (it's on YouTube!) reminded me that about 25 years ago I wrote my own little tribute to Peter Parker, at least a very specific interpretation from a very specific time. It's called "Silver Age." 😁

Podcasting is 21 years old. I've been a podcaster for 21 years, too. Interesting stuff happened in podcasting around that anniversary. I talk about it! Anywhere you get your podcasts, and on YouTube, or you can listen / view / read the show notes at the link:

Twenty-one years ago today, I released the first episode of the 41st podcast in existence. Since then, for myself but mostly for clients, I've helped bring a new podcast episode into the world every four and a half days, on average -- nearly 1,700 episodes. How can I help YOU?

Don't be the person who tries to get around character limits or hack SEO by stuffing the ALT tag with content not related to describing the image. You're fucking the visually impaired, and not doing yourself any SEO favors. That's not a growth strategy. Looking at you, @legalwanderer.com.

More and more, I find my reason for posting on LinkedIn is to call out bullshit and shenanigans when they pop up on my feed (as I interpret such, of course).

That practice is either going to guarantee I'm never hired again, or it will find me the most lucrative and ethically aligned gig of my life.

Anthropic agreed to pay 1,000s of authors they pirated to train AI products a 1.5 BILLION-DOLLAR settlement. SO FILE A CLAIM IF YOU WERE WRONGED. Make those fuckers bleed every penny. Do it now before the window closes:

Happy 75th anniversary of the debut of Peanuts, and the introduction -- in a walk on! -- of good ol' Charlie Brown. As Peppermint Patty would say a few years later, "You're all right, Chuck." And that goes x1,000,000 for you, Mr. Schultz.

Authenticity is cool again, say the "content" gurus. I have things to say. If you're an author or bring any kind of creative endeavors into the world, you'll find my take useful. Watch on YouTube, listen anywhere you get your podcasts, or take it all in right here:

Finally saw Fantastic Four: First Steps. That was damn fine... and the gratitude to Jack Kirby (FINALLY) actually brought a tear to my eye. Someone involved in this project was balancing some scales. Sure, the spaceship is a nod to Stan Lee, but the whole damn universe is named for Kirby. Bless 'em.

I have a ridiculous urge to create an IRC server with a members-only client on my website. You're thinking, "What about Discord?"

Why not NO frills and no social media megacorp?

Also, this temptation is a sure sign I have more important and difficult obligations to attend to. :-D

20 years ago today, I completed my first novel. It was published (the 1st novel released simultaneously in paperback, e-book, and free podcast editions) a bit later, and remains my most popular book. Since I've written two other novels that are each better, I have very mixed feelings about that...

It's been a while, but I once again read an article about how someone has "lost everything" and 3/4 of the way through there's mention of how they're hiring a few new employees for their company. See also, "I was flat broke, but I couldn't not afford to buy this $3000 course!" #getthefuckout
