Why throw it away when you could go deeper into the lore?
You could put it in the center of a ring of mushrooms, and see what they do.
Or, partially embed it in cement and see if any of them can pull it out.
Or you know, wait a week, chuck it, and say a raccoon must have stolen it.

I love those in general, but I've also been places where the math is wrong (oddly enough in my favor). So I still end up doing the work myself. ☹️
