Johnny Manziel just gave the BDS crowd the finger, then hit the Heisman pose, then yelled something that included a "suck my dick"

I am once again asking you to read a long and self-indulgent (but ultimately good I think) story about Vanderbilt and Nashville and Clark Lea
mattstahl97.bsky.social
Vanderbilt's win over Alabama last year woke the nation up. It got Nashville onboard with the team like never before. But Clark Lea's rebuild of a program nobody else believed in was underway years before.

‘Finding a program’s potential’: How Clark Lea turned Vanderbilt into a real SEC football team
It took a win over Alabama football for the world to take notice, but Clark Lea's Vanderbilt transformation had been in progress for years.

Great anecdote about what it used to be like for Vanderbilt in its own city, even when things were going good. Many thanks to the homie @bradengall.bsky.social

I say this a lot about Matt’s work, but this might be my favorite story he’s ever written.

Spent the week in my hometown for this one. Lots of fun stuff in here, from Clark Lea explaining why he tried to make a clean break from Vanderbilt's history, to a bar manager explaining how a wing wars promotion shows the Commodores making more local impact than ever

Beat writer away game trip goat track tour continues. First time playing since before the FSU game due to a sore back. Pine Hills Golf Club in Winder, Ga. Wound up with an 89 I was pretty happy with given the circumstances. Some questionable design choices, but overall worth $40 for 18 with cart

As if UAB wasn't already one of the weirdest programs in CFB, its tight ends are now apparently selling dick pills under the brand name "Miso Horny"?!?!

And they're trying to get their teammates using their supplements?!?
How UAB tight ends turned a running joke into a serious business
UAB tight ends Joshua Rubin, J.C. Sivley and Connor Harby founded a supplement company called Miso Healthy.

Absolutely dying at this coachspeak quote from Dilfer

Again, the product here is, among other things, non-prescription boner pills

Nick Saban once publicly pushed to get LSU taken off Alabama's yearly schedule. After the Tide drew Mississippi State as an annual opponent instead, Kalen DeBoer said he didn't do the same

"This was to send a message to the playoff committee"

they literally waited until they had successfully complained/ threatened the playoff committee into changing its strength of schedule criteria before they moved to nine games

interesting that every sec network analyst loves how the sec has set the schedule up, love independent journalism
