I will be commenting on the pasta tariffs at the appropriate time. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

There is a growing realization among our generation—journalists and non-journalists alike—that we're going to have to rebuild this country's media institutions from scratch.

The need for fearless. independent journalism has never been greater. Which is why I'm excited to announce that I have accepted a job to become the Head of Research at @heartlandsignal.bsky.social. We have big things in store so check us out.

I wish more candidates scolded us upon launch. "You've left me with no choice but to pursue this office, shame on all of you."

President Macron, please stop calling! I will not be your Prime Minister, not now, not ever.

Mayor Hidalgo also said that I, despite not being French and having no ties to France, should be the next President of France. Flattered! But no.

Mayor Anne Hidalgo heard about my record-breaking earnings as City Treasurer and offered me a job on the spot. But I said no — I serve the people of La Mesa.

Two transactional attorneys arguing syntax! Can only end well!

Is that the fundamental premise? It might be a benefit, sure, but I take issue with your characterization. In any event, I would be satisfied with a municipal utility that overlaps with San Diego Community Power's current service area.
mattstrabone.bsky.social
That's a fair reservation. I'd like to see the full report too; like you, I am curious about the math around the transmission lines.
mattstrabone.bsky.social
I'd be in favor of an amalgamated municipal utility.
mattstrabone.bsky.social
It's unfortunate that the City of San Diego re-upped its agreement with the private utility company for at least 10 and possibly 20 years. It's also too bad that all the San Diego mayor's office could muster was, "We haven't seen the study, sorry."

This subthread should turn into a race to the bottom wherein we try to out-sacrilege each other. "We have here only five bonds and two CDs." "Bring them here to me," he said. Taking the five bonds and two CDs, he gave thanks and reinvested them. The people all harvested the gains and were satisfied.

I'm a public servant who earns his city millions of extra dollars a year and makes a cool $13k a year doing it. That's right, drink it in.

They said they did it this way to accommodate you.

I went to France and they said you live here.

"I've been saying this for years!"
"We're already doing that at [media outlet]!"
"That's fine but who will fund this?!"

Gold stars for all of you, truly.

The media landscape in future America must feature credible, relatable, interesting local news for normal people, and it must be robust enough to meet them where they are: reading, listening, or watching (or whatever fourth thing youths are doing these days).

We need an oasis for every news desert.

Hello! A warm thanks to everyone who pushed for me to become the next San Diego County Treasurer. I know my decision not to pursue that office has disappointed some folks, and I am sorry about that. But I intend to work in other ways towards protecting and restoring our society and our communities.
mattstrabone.bsky.social
What's that? No, I haven't seen the article or heard the news. I've been walking the cloud battlements.
