On a different note. The Angel Quor’Toth four-parter is absolutely stellar television. The thematic connections, character development, and genre bending is fantastic. A show that does not get enough attention.

American football is the most litigious sport out there. There’s not enough games to have any room for error, so you need a complicated series of Boolean algebra sets to determine winners and losers. It’s also really fucking boring to watch.

Season 2 of The Wire is all-time TV and wouldn’t be half as good with James Ransone’s Ziggy. The sled pointed directly at TRAGEDY is very apparent from his first moment on screen, and Ransone does heroic work with the character.

The first episode of Angel is pretty janky but has some good stuff overall. Cordelia immediately clocking that guy as a vampire, Doyle unsuccessfully trying to ram the gate, Angel kicking the baddie out of a window.

Supernatural, for about 5 seasons, is as good as network tv gets. Competent, veteran writers and directors steering young leads, and the show doesn’t treat you like a moron. Lots of good stuff!

College football and basketball are net negatives for this country. They suck the lifeblood (and money) from universities while creating a violent environment. It’s also FUCKING WEIRD that grown adults have this much of a stake in the goings on of children.

I don’t know if I like Lodge 49, but I can’t stop watching it. It doesn’t quite work as a slacker hangout or a philosophical exercise, but everybody involved is very good.
