Cover 1 from 3-high safeties, presumably with some funnel rules to handle the tight ends and the running back, where you could have the safety on the back becoming the player in the hole

Clever from Shanahan for how Seahawks play cover 4

Love loses Juszczyk post-chip, sees QB looking downfield, feels #1 vertical, then is keen to find the deeper route coming back across the field (something the 49ers love throwing)

Knight widens with flat threat. delay of chip sees him sucked down

Subtle from Shanahan but I like this as a way of popping open the flat vs. cover 4.

If the offense had aligned in conventional trips, the WILL plays the RB more like man-to-man

By motioning into a trips-ish look, then releasing everyone on downfield routes, both the WILL and the S think strongside

Elite nose tackle play from Byron Murphy here.

Very fast reactions to his guard pulling, able to cross the face of the downblock and wreck what was a tricky play design.

When he's singled up, Murphy does serious damage with his quicks and smarts.

Look at Derick Hall (right edge) persist through the chip, convert to power with a stab down the chest, and rock Purdy. Would've been a career highlight sack if he'd finished.

Ball-fitting is hard post.

The disconnect between Drake Thomas and Ernest Jones, along with a tough rep for Byron Murphy trying to hold against that combo as long as possible.

The difficulty of ball-fitting is a reason for Seattle to continue their nickel bear usage (more one-gap) on early downs

On the Pearsall sideline catch:

Shanahan surely knew Macdonald likes to use creeper and sim pressures on 2nd and long as a way of speeding QB up to force the checkdown.

So Shanahan gave Purdy a longer developing concept, and the double move got behind Woolen for a crucial chunk
