There's this fundamental mismatch in what AI people seem to think research is. As if you have a kernel of an idea and one needs the right re-combination of tokens to have some kind of insight.

Research should be surprising, thought-provoking, (re-)discovering new literatures and subcommunities.

Exactly. Like I said I didn’t take a picture of the label, so I can’t confirm what that says, but a few of the museums I’ve visited are filled with replicas and are noted as such. Though the Mogao Cave Museum was certainly of a different calibre haha

Sure. I was at the Mogao Caves Museum in Dunhuang and it’s shown alongside examples of texts in various languages. It seems I didn’t take a picture of its label, so not sure if it’s original or not (perhaps anyone here knows?).
