I commented this elsewhere but I think Jessup thinks Jessup was right, and that’s the only thing that’s really important to the story and performance. I think the Marines in the movie suck, mostly because Security Force Marines are a bunch of dweebs, and I’m biased against dweebs.

It… hasn’t aged well. Although the general theme of rebellion in the face of a toxic culture is still a good one.

The scam of the Ivy League has always been the idea of “prestige”. The cream of the working class is accepted and their intelligence “exploited” so that wealthy and legacy can get the “Oh they went to Harvard they must be smart” rub.
