For a second year in a row, SPVM ruthlessly beat queer demonstrators in the streets during Pride events. Hundreds of protesters mobilized in the Gay Village in Montreal to protest the increased corporatization of Montreal Pride. They also took aim at Fierté MTL for their inclusion of Israeli Zionist organizations at the annual festivities. The protest lasted mere minutes before the SPVM riot police attacked, tearing at the banners, using pepper spray, tear gas and severe beatings before demonstrators retreated. The protest circled the block before police again attacked the demonstration as they moved towards the Gay Village. 

SPVM severely beat protesters and multiple members of the press. One demonstrator threw an inflatable unicorn at the police. SPVM then charged the protest and shot tear gas into Parc Emilie Gamelin, where a salsa dancing event of hundreds was being held. Everyone present suffered the effects of tear gas. I witnessed several children and a baby suffering the effects of the tear gas.
