‘What we need is a political project’ to counter the neoliberal political and cultural project, including the values it promotes like individualism.

Specially looking forward to the proposed answers coming in future (last para in report). All too often these big calls for a new system or narrative punt their questions into the void.

Hahaha the trolling from the car specialist cited in this Forbes article. “The spectacular failure of Cybertruck was a failure of empathy”

Meanwhile in Germany, over the weekend Bild literally using the good olde ‘it’s just common sense’ framing to push its policy preferences on the incoming government.

I.e. Tax cuts, longer working hours and clampdown on migrants.

So good! On this last part, so many liberals’ whole approach is basically waiting:

For populists to screw up. For institutions to reassert themselves. For normality to return. For ‘grassroots’ movements to do their magic. For voters to see reason. For system change.

If only.

Also: no surprise that a ‘technological republic’ is seen as the solution. To rebuild something from the ground up requires razing what was there before btw.

This is exactly why an alternative meta-narrative to free market capitalism is so urgent. Faced with the lack of meaning in their lives, tech bros are turning to a ‘Judeo-Christian’ (code for ‘white’) pseudo religious mashup

I’ve been posting about the urgent need for a new narrative for a while.

Also about how parallel projects are unlikely to lead to a synthesis version.

So (deep breath): here’s my own attempt. The point is it’s doable, not to say ‘this is it’! @davidrvetter.bsky.social @isabellamweber.bsky.social

Another 5 or 6 days like yesterday and he falls to number 2 on the rich list.

Fast approaching the point where Trump’s allergy to ‘losers’ kicks in.

Bild now claiming to speak on behalf of the ‘will of the majority’.

And when the anti-migrant measure they were supporting doesn’t get through parliament that’s ‘madness’.

Not even pretending to care about democracy anymore.

Economic illiteracy as campaign slogan from Germany’s FDP.

The sign reads ‘Debt: children are liable for their parents’.

So now YouTube is offering me to watch the Musk-AfD event live with German translators. Sponsored by a company selling gold with over 300 thousand followers. Just in case the grift isn’t explicit enough.
