Happy Holidays from the Eurovangelists
We've had the good fortune this year to enjoy the support of fans like you, so we've decided to share a little bit of the wealth of content that our MaxFun backers get and put together this present for everyone. It's the very first episode of But Enough About Eurovision Already from April, our pop culture chat about anything non-Eurovision, and the very first episode of Dimitry's interview show Eurovision Journeys, where he talks to European fans of the ESC and their history with it. Jeremy's wearing his Dale shirt, Dimitry's got a Chip jacket, and Oscar is the 'N'. "Bottle Blonde" by Momma. "Endless Fantasy" by Anamanaguchi. "Come Over" by Le Sserafim. Linda Martin's famous exchange with Billy McGuinness. And as always, this week's companion playlist. The Eurovangelists are Jeremy Bent, Oscar Montoya and Dimitry Pompée. The theme was arranged and recorded by Cody McCorry and Faye Fadem, and the logo was designed by Tom Deja. Production support for this show was provided by the Maximum Fun network. The show is edited by Jeremy Bent with audio mixing help was courtesy of Shane O’Connell. Find Eurovangelists on social media as @eurovangelists on Instagram and @eurovangelists.com on Bluesky, or send us an email at [email protected]. Head to https://maxfunstore.com/collections/eurovangelists for Eurovangelists merch. Also follow the Eurovangelists account on Spotify and check out our playlists of Eurovision hits, competitors in upcoming national finals, and companion playlists to every single episode, including this one!

We donated $43,360 to support trans rights!
Every year after MaxFunDrive, we run a big sale where members can purchase as many of the $10 level gifts as they'd like and we donate the proceeds to a charity. Since we started this sale in 2017, our members have helped us raise $650,000 for thirteen different nonprofits! This year, with transphobia rapidly on the rise and the current U.S. administration ramping up its attacks on trans people, all the workers at MaxFun collectively agreed to send this year’s proceeds to Transgender Law Center. TLC champions the right of all transgender and gender-nonconforming people to make their own choices and live freely, safely, and authentically—a mission everyone at MaxFun is in full support of! **We raised $43,360 for Transgender Law Center, which will help them continue all of the important work they do!** In a single year, Transgender Law Center… * Litigates 10+ court cases intended to set legal precedents, with a focus on criminalization, prisons, healthcare, and immigration * Responds to over 2,000 requests for resources and referrals through their Legal Information Helpdesk and Prison Mail Program, with about 1/3 of those requests coming from trans community members who are incarcerated * Engages and equips 500+ transgender activists and allies in LGBTQIA+ movements through their leadership programs, including a cohort of 15+ trans youth through their collaboration with GSA Network And that’s just the beginning! Check out more of what TLC does and why their work is so critical: * Trans Agenda for Liberation * Prison Mail Program * Border Butterflies Program * Black Trans Circles * Disability Project * Positively Trans * Resources for Journalists If you wanna join us in protecting trans rights, you can donate alongside us here. Plus, if you happen to be a practicing attorney, consider joining their Attorney Solidarity Network! Finally, thank you so much to everyone who bought a pin to help support Transgender Law Center and to Tom Deja, who designed all of our pins! Thank you to everyone who supports Maximum Fun and our shows, and, of course, thank you to all of the staff, producers, and hosts who make our podcast network what it is. You all make it possible for us to do good in the world.

Tom Johnson Advised LBJ, Ran CNN, and Drove Himself to Severe Depression
The 84-year-old political veteran and media icon opens up about his career, mental health, and regrets. The intriguing memoir Tom Johnson recently released is called _Driven: A Life in Public Service from LBJ to CNN_ and it’s full of amazing anecdotes. Tom joined the White House in his early twenties, was the one to inform LBJ of Martin Luther King’s shooting, was a giant in newspapers and cable news, and loaned Gorbachev a pen that was used to sign the paperwork dissolving the USSR. Tom’s personal story is a little more vulnerable and fragile. He tells of experiencing a suicidal depression in a time when such things were never discussed, being of the opinion that depression was a sign of weakness, and getting it treated anyway at the behest of his wife. Tom also shares his regrets, now at age 84, about being so driven by his career and accomplishments that he gave his family far less of his time and attention than he should have. It’s a moving interview about someone who had a front row seat for history and is now examining what it all meant. Thank you to all our listeners who support the show as monthly members of Maximum Fun. Check out our I’m Glad You’re Here and Depresh Mode merchandise at the brand new merch website MaxFunStore.com!
