what also really fucks me up is that tdor is right before my birthday. every year, i mourn members of my community lost to deliberate interpersonal and state violence, right before celebrating making it through another year. it’s so jarring

i went to a vigil today and i’m feeling incredibly emotional but i think what’s most isolating is that so many people were just able to disconnect. they went to the vigil and then 5 minutes later, they were fine, laughing and moving on. for me, it’s been hours and i still feel hazy

what’s the hardest to parse is that it’s not an accident. the world is DESIGNED to eliminate us. from state bureaucracy and medical gatekeeping, to economic violence, to media outlets talking about us as if we’re a debate, to politicians using us as pawns. none of this is set up to help us live
