Off to React conf...looking forward to seeing how React is innovating with the boring stuff like scheduling, compilers, performance, caching, and cross compatibility.

My first reaction is that I like this, and it solves my main annoyances with JSX being a "weird" subset of JS while not having loops,if statements, function calls, and variables.

It looks similar to Angular's new control flow syntax, so I wonder if there are some good learning from Angular.

Introducing the mid-level boss of bad management, the Silo Hydra. Break down one, and many more appear.
The silo hydra, a depiction of the Lernaean Hydra, but with industrial silos forming its many heads.

The old every department is a special snowflake problem, and departments need to have their own fiefdom. Good luck breaking down the silos

It comes down to how you sell a solution, the sales pitch needs to match the needs of the business and not do things that could scare them.
maxwellcohen.bsky.social
The tech costs that the business is seeing is lack of control of what is in the environments (no config) and the cost of learning a new tool. Are these "costs" real...not really.
maxwellcohen.bsky.social
From the point of view of the business, you are adding lots of potential tech costs without a clear benefit to them.

I have been quietly hoping for this since the baseline standard was announced a few years ago. Who can I thank for this?

Before, you needed a plugin to use Baseline semantics in your Browserslist queries. Now you don't!

Just give it a target like `baseline widely available` and it'll work out of the box

Available in [email protected] and later

Thank you very much for the info. I am excited to see how the React core team implements this. Creating a good api to deal with collections of elements is a challenging problem, and this seems like a good solution.

React is not using cool terms like signals or partial hydration, so no innovation

When React uses "boring" terms like hooks, suspense, server actions/functions/components, and so on. It does not count as innovation.
