i think it's safe to assume that if even small-time landlords can be enticed to participate in artificial scarcity the big private equity firms are doing it too.

yeah that’s how i’ve done it too, but it doesn’t want to pass the correct audio signal for whatever reason. it might just be my receiver is just too old.

i'm going to test connecting my pc directly into the avr to see if it accepts the other audio channels. which, if that's the case, tells me i just need to upgrade my avr to one with hdmi 2.1 and invert my whole setup (everything into the avr, then one cable to the tv). if it doesn't work, then idk.

it doesn't work great for computers, however. i managed to get it to work right within windows 11 (though it was a literal nightmare) but now on linux i fear i'm fighting an unwinnable battle. it just won't send a true 5.1 signal that my tv can send to the avr.

my avr is old and only supports hdmi 2.0. thus, all my hdmi 2.1 devices that need 4k/120hz, hdr etc. are all connected to the tv. the tv is then connected to the arc port on the avr so all sound gets routed over one cable. this works great for basically everything (ps5, apple tv, switch, etc.)
