i almost forgot to answer but thanks for leaving two! for the first one:

a crucial part of my sketching phase is planning the colors along with the lines. i like to use a watercolor brush that naturally blends surrounding colors together to create a cohesive palette to color pick from for painting!
ten desires color sketch (i did the lineart already, sometimes i do the color wash after i have the lines done). the idea was to have the cooler color sections at the top corners and the bottom/center being warm. with the background wash done i color the characters with their usual colors. makes everyone's palette look cohesive with their respective section. helps me not rely too much on blend layers, which have their perks but can get muddy ime gekiyaku gothic lolita color sketch. wanted to really emphasize bright red highlights on the dress and warmer tones. base color was red/orange with the background being a darkish blue, and the palette morphed around these base colors. when i started painting, i color picked from this draft to maintain the palette.

i cant stop customizing my 3ds home screen but i think i'll finally stop w this one, the swapnote theme and badges r so good. i downloaded so many sanrio/animal crossing/vocaloid badges and they were all discarded for NIKKI!!!!
(ended up removing the badges on the folders to see the faces :3)
