...until the linkedin spam hit me this morning.

so the response has been a pleasant surprise.

as someone said in the svelte chat:
> I found the minute you just toss something out uncaringly, magically everything goes well...

(this is not to say Cummings is right or wrong about other things, just highlighting his observations about ministers)

Cummings argues the commentariat is the cause, politicians incentivised to please them

> more interest from people in [SF] in ‘how exactly does X work’ than I have from the actual minister in London nominally ‘in charge’ of X

#1 On Bismarck: the ultimate practical education in the 'unrecognised simplicities' of high performance politics/government
What sort of character changes history? What and how do we learn from history? Why is it so hard to learn the 'unrecognised simplicities' of high performance? How did he approach problems we face?

wild, I never hear of people actually using that any more

And, sure, it's infamous for not actually making people fluent. But there's evidence they learn *something*.

I'm currently working on B2B. But really want to get to 'Duolingo for media' before the end of the year. DM me if this interests you.

More 'Duolingo for media', less 'media literacy' IMO.

That's a simplistic way to say it. But the last thing that already-sceptical citizens want is the government telling them how to discern truth.

Duolingo couples System 2 desires to System 1 aspirations.

What are the outcomes here?

Seems most of the piece is 'The Finnish are very good at media literacy...'

followed by '...as demonstrated by their high media literacy scores'

as opposed to '...and therefore x has improved in their society'.

(only skimmed so maybe I missed it!)

In the same way the Tutorial says "Don't copy-paste", it makes sense to say "Don't LLM".

But how do we avoid losing the spirit of 2019?
