It's been great to see more work submitted to the journal on Welsh, Scottish and Irish histories in recent years. Our first issue contains a Forum reflecting on ‘Four Nations’ history and the definitions and boundaries of ‘Britain’ in ‘British history’ 🗃️

For the re-launch, Erik Linstrum co-ordinated a Forum that explores The Past, Present and Futures of Modern British History. The pieces here ‘offer a variety of perspectives on where modern British history has been and where it might be going’. 🗃️

We've used the re-launch as a chance to reflect on the field and the journal's place within it. The issue opens with an editorial in which we consider what the name change means for the journal and the opportunities and challenges facing historians in the 2020s.
