Pritzker: "He said he was going after the worst of the worst. It's not going after the worst of the worst when you're just literally stopping children who happen to be brown & asking them for papers as if they're gonna have proof they're a citizen. Pull out your phones and film everything you see"

I will not back down.

Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power.

What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?

Play 1 in the Fascist Playbook is to deflect from your own lawlessness by playing the victim and accusing others.

Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) a bit more blunt in his message to Republicans:

"Show up to Congress and do your goddamn job."

"Millions of people are about to lose their health care. This is a serious crisis we're in. We can avoid. it."

The record of the #BrokenTimes on fascism is less than stellar. Remember, in addition to promoting Trump and normalizing him relentlessly in the campaign, they also did a puff piece on Hitler two weeks before he started a war that killed sixty million human beings.

So the people causing the shutdown are getting paid. The people keeping the country running don’t.

And Speaker Mike Johnson won’t let the House come back to work. So basically they’re on a paid vacation while Americans miss paychecks.

Did I get that right?

Yet as this obviously political persecution persists and spreads - and the president foams at the mouth to turn our military on civilians - our crack media continue to avoid the word "fascist" like the plague.🙄

Got news for you, sport, if you're a bigot, you're rarely adored by the supposed object of your bigotry. If you saw the newsreels of weeping black people at train stations following FDR's casket, you'd know immediately the distinction between him and Reagan.
No more time to educate you.
Muted.
mblehrhoff.bsky.social
Oooh, nice dodge. But here's what Google AI, which is not quite so immune to facts as you, says:
The name Roosevelt became a popular first name for Black children during the 1930s and 1940s. This reflected the widespread support FDR received from African Americans during the Depression.
mblehrhoff.bsky.social
Oh, and if you think Reagan and Roosevelt are equivalent on race, you go ahead and tally the number of black women in the 30s and 40s who named their children Roosevelt, and compare it to the number of black women in the 80s who named their children Reagan.
Go ahead, give it a shot.
Good luck.
mblehrhoff.bsky.social
Correction, southern Democrats under FDR. And FDR desegregating the war work force was a major civil rights step in the right direction. Reagan is responsible for absolutely zero of those because he was too busy pledging his sacred honor in support of states' rights.
