Has there been an explainer for why the ICE officer was filming on his cell phone? Is that standard protocol? Are there circumstances that precipitate it?

Interesting that we execute “boarding and seizure” of alleged embargoed tankers, rather than blowing them to bits like we do with alleged drug-running boats. It’s almost as if we care more about oil than we do about human lives.

I don’t know the law stuff regarding liability of federal agencies, but in cases I’ve covered when local POs are involved attys very much want to show that an officer who screwed up followed the training—that makes it the PD’s and city’s fault, and they have the deep pockets.

I’ve covered or followed up on a lot of cases of alleged excessive force or shootings by law enforcement, and I find them terribly sad, and the ‘truth’ often very slow and difficult to discern. This one is replaying all the worst aspects, in heightened ways. It’s all too depressing.
