Have you tried ffmpeg? It can screen record into segments or the more crash friendly mkv or TS format. There’s a format to allow playback while recording (HLS, a live streaming format, I can try to look up the exact command if needed). A file saved this way while crashing plays up to the crash.

What’s the ferry company? I used to work for Nordic Jet Lines who had the Helsinki-Tallinn route.
