Me too. Whew. I get it why some people just are exiting, though, especially if they come into ACNA from other denominations that have the same patterns of failure.

For real. Super convenient for those who have never had to hear a meaningful no or experience meaningful accountability.

TBH we never could.

I will never get over the disappointment of selective biblicism. Is it a biblical qualification for a leader to be above reproach or not? /end

Many of our leaders seemed to have been formed by the idea that their good intentions should be the measure of the ethics of their actions.

I don’t think we can afford to operate by that idea anymore. +

It’s a way of operating outside of reality that I’ve see time & time again in the administration of the ACNA.

All of which makes me say:
ACNA leaders, please show the budget line items & receipts & clear this up. If there isn't anything to show, please explain why. +

I can for sure see a scenario where leaders who don’t want to or can’t reckon with the mundane reality of paying ppl a living wage end up writing off all kinds of expenses & justifying it.

Or where leaders can’t be bothered to track expenses. +

B/c boundary-less-ness cuts both ways in mission-driven orgs.

It also leads to stretched thin leaders
who learn to justify creative workarounds or who enjoy the ease with which they can make things happen.

I remember reviewing the ACNA public provincial budget in 2022 & bring shocked that it was less detailed than our own family budget.

It’s a wild way to run an org, but odd to me to then act offended when ppl want receipts. +

ACNA, & CANA & AMIA before it, all relied on administratively lean methods.

Rumor was an AMIA leader had a $1 million discretionary account. 🤯

Anglican 1000 fundraising was built on missionary zeal & trust in leadership.

Who knows how those funds were allocated? +

I mean, where is the $48k & how was it used? That should be easy enough to sort out.

What was the $28k spent on & how does that compare to other admin org costs of a mission org?

I’m a big fan of open books in general but esp important when financial questions arise. +

Re: ppl-making-claims-did-bad-things-too

Unless those ppl are aspiring to lead our denom, I kind of don’t care.

I’ve seen too many instances of DARVO & blame the whistleblowers to give much credence to this anyway, but the question is whether the allegations are credible. +

Part of the problem w/episcopal hero worship built on eva celebrity culture is that we cannot envision that someone likeable, devout, & charismatic can have done good things *and also* made grave errors that might have workplace consequences. +

Re: I-know-he’s-a-good-guy: Welcome to the unpleasant reality that episcopal polity w/out accountability will inevitably betray your trust.

Bishops are just men, many of whom—whatever their intentions—have been operating w/out boundaries for a long time. +

Re : Bp Dobbs denies it—I’m all ears. I sure hope the ACNA
gets that some of us 🙋🏻‍♀️ need to see some evidence on why we should believe him, esp since we are talking about the acting Abp & have all lived through yrs of ACNA leaders stretching our trust to the breaking point.+
January 5, 2026 at 11:38 PM
What has to happen before we get to the point where 48k goes missing or a bishop becomes accustomed to plagiarizing sermons or yelling at people?

For me reorienting in that way helps me remember that these are serious charges. +

I mean clergy spouses of all ppl know that the role doesn’t mean perfection, but whenever I hear these clams I find myself asking: how many turns down this road does it take to get to this place? +
January 5, 2026 at 11:38 PM
Is it that every bishop in the ACNA has a line of potential claimants waiting like skeletons in a closet?

Or is it that healthier bishops want nothing to do with provincial roles?

I have no idea but it shouldn’t be this hard, should it?+
January 5, 2026 at 11:38 PM
I’ve already seen knee jerk defenses: This-isn’t-true-Bp-Dobbs-denies-it or I-know-he’s-a-good-guy or ppl-making-claims-are-bad.

I’ll take them each in turn but, guys, can we reflect: Why is it so hard to find ACNA leaders w/unquestionable integrity? +
