“If everyone just acted differently of their own volition” is a surprisingly common proposal. I wonder how often it’s worked

Not that I think that people’s motivation is wrong but I do think that this is something of an overcorrection to the “[generation] ruining [X] industry” articles. Sometimes younger generations genuinely act differently from older generations and pointing that out isn’t necessarily saying it’s bad!

I do still think that the article is a bit flawed, in that when older generations say that they put “cultural” values over “political” values I think that it should be questioned whether this is actually a change in priorities or just the language that each generation uses to describe them

I don’t read this article as particularly scolding, it seems like it’s more documenting that this is a shift with generations rather than trying to say that younger people are wrong for it

(Meaning that that one couple was a counter-example)

The survey didn’t get into each type of view but the one couple they featured in the article said that they differed on abortion specifically

The survey they did does show a difference with age but the difference between under 30 and over 60 is less than 2x so it’s more of a difference in degree than kind

Best I can do is that I might catch a snippet of something interesting on the radio during my morning commute and then look up what Reddit has to say about it

Yeah TOS has aged better than the first two seasons of TNG for sure. TOS is so old that it’s a totally different style of television, while TNG S1&2 is just very old and dated modern TV
