lol! Touché! 😀

I’m still waiting for the Atlantic Schooners shirt ordered during a pandemic induced CFL buying binge. Hats or t shirts from every team. That explains the shame of owning a Stampeders T shirt 😀 I’d love a team on the east coast but fear won’t be anytime soon. And doubt rule change will clinch

All I can say (emphatically) is ditto! 😀

That was my reaction too. Solutions in search of a problem. And “solutions” that are alienating existing fans while doing nothing attract new fans (“if only they shortened the field then I’d be a CFL fanatic”). Invest in the product and marketing. Leave the rules alone.

Duh. Solutions in search of a problem. No NFL fan I know has said: “if only you moved the goal posts, shrunk the end zone and shrunk the field, I’d start watching the CFL”. But why invest in marketing and promotion when you can re-arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.

In the meantime, my dollars for season tickets will be used elsewhere.

changes. But I’m so upset (as are others I think), that they risk losing fans like me. Rather than doing the hard work of mkt research and marketing the league they took the lazy route. And now risk paying the price - loss of long time fans but no gain of new fans. That’s a firing offence.

Great article. These were solutions in search of problems. I would kick someone out of my office for coming in with such poorly conceived changes with no consultation with those that really matter - fans that pay the bills. The NFL fans in my life are not going to become CFL fans due to these

Not the result we were hoping for. But what a team. No quit and lots of grit. Amazing

So proud of them. And even more impressed. They did not quit. Truly an inspiration. So what comes next - how does Canada as a whole honour their efforts and support them moving forward. And the next generation of athletes.

Yep. Invest in youth leagues. Outreach to new Canadians. Create excitement. Imitation won’t cut it.

These were largely solutions in search of a problem. Shrinking the end zone won’t increase TD production. It won’t draw new fans (why watch Canadian based NFL lite when you can watch the real thing) and, in my case, alienates existing fans. Could be deciding factor for renewal of season tix.

Fully agree. I want to watch Canadian football. It a Canadian imitation of US football.

Watch Rugby Union. They have been doing for years. And I periodically poke the CFL to do the same. 😄

And upon reflection I feel the need to add….. these women are amazing. It’s easy to opine from the sidelines. They are crushing it on the field. And nothing can diminish that.
