Donkey Kong Bananza is kinda one of the best games so far this century, I think

![Even besides the obvious [:gator screamin':] reasons, it's honestly just a top-notch experience in almost every way.
Kid Pauline gets a little grating once you're in the postgame and you've gotta scrape up all the Banandiums you didn't nab during your first go through each layer, but that's one tiny, trivial blemish on the best possible reintroduction the DK series could've had after going over a decade without a new entry.
So much new but with so much old mixed in that doesn't feel like it's aged a day, a new take on DK that still feels very much like the cool muscleheaded doofus of old, a new batch of antagonists that don't overstay their welcome for a second and that managed to make me legitimately hope we see them again, an old antagonist who didn't waste a MINUTE showing everyone why we wanted him back so badly, an absolutely killer soundtrack (that shoulda been nominated at TGA but they're a bunch of sellouts who needed to Level Up With Spotify), gameplay that never gets old... the recency bias doesn't even apply anymore, 'coz it's been ages, and I still think it's an absolute masterpiece, and the real 2025 GotY when you ignore the French JRPG slop that used AI slop and only got rid of it once they were caught.
(That having been said, I also wouldn't have minded if Silksong took it.)
It revived a franchise I've loved since some of my earliest experiences with gaming, brought back one of my favorite villains of all time, didn't change a damn thing about why I like him so much, wore a deep reverence on its sleeve for the Rare era of DK that so many of us love but were convinced Nintendo was just kind of awkwardly ashamed of, and had, as I've said before, one of the best finales in any game ever, not even just limited to Nintendo games, and I get the feeling it'll always have a place in my heart and many others'.

I've got a big bulky box fan in my window all year round
Doesn't always get a lot of use, especially in the warmer months since it would just make things worse
But around this time of year, when things finally start cooling off, it's the perfect time to just have it bring the cold air in just a bit

I've heard before that they still have Sugimori draw all of the artwork for the new 'mons, and that *definitely* has him written all over it, so it looks like he might've tapped into that classic vastly superior stark-white-highlight watercolor look one more time
