I came across an interview where he is talking about some new encyclopedia of Catholic theology, but they gave you know apparently removed all the heterodox stuff, so it's just their communio theology and bad Thomism. And Levering is going on about being an anti-modernist and anti-pluralist...

It is I suspect the failure of historiography that creates the odd rereading of history that almost all historical theologies undertake.

I often criticise theologians for their horrible grasp on history. The deficiencies in historiography of historical theology tend to make it next to impossible to properly situate the hermeneutics of the field.

The contest between license and liberty is such an old battle. A clarion cry of the Presbyterian faction of the long parliament was "Who meant license when they cried liberty?" I thought the American experiment was driven by the heirs of the nonconformists rather than Presbyterians.

Yeah my boys do end up making the object of this particular desire have special rules. It is possible they did this to avoid dramas with Ottoviani types.
